Since 1977 at sea, to defend the ocean
Sea Shepherd has been protecting marine life since 1977, with its own ships engaged in direct action against illegal fishing, poaching, and the destruction of ocean habitats. We don't just report: we intervene directly where conservation laws are ignored.
From a small crew, we have grown into a global movement, present in dozens of countries with thousands of volunteers who work every day for a single goal: to deliver living oceans to future generations.
Protecting the ocean means protecting ourselves
Marine species are disappearing at an alarming rate, affected by intensive fishing, poaching, pollution, and climate change. This is not a distant problem: the ocean regulates the planet's climate, produces much of the oxygen we breathe, and supports the food supply of millions of people.
When the ocean loses biodiversity, we all lose something. That's why its protection cannot wait.
Small actions, every day
Ocean protection also begins with daily choices. Here are some concrete actions that make a difference:
Reduce your consumption of fish and seafood: every choice at the table has a real impact on marine ecosystems.
Avoid single-use plastics and prefer reusable alternatives in your daily life.
Participate in a beach clean-up, or organize one in your area with others.
Talk about ocean conservation with those around you: information is the first step towards change.
