Operation Sisois the campaign through which Sea Shepherd Italyprotects the Mediterranean ecosystem from illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. The main targets are FADs, fish aggregating devices that attract fish for capture with nets. The campaign also combats the use of "driftnets," which are prohibited but still illegally used today and have been responsible for the deaths of sperm whales, tuna, swordfish and other marine mammals over time. Through direct action at sea, Sea Shepherd volunteers identify and remove illegal FADs, abandoned nets and lines, making a stretch of the Mediterranean safer for marine wildlife. Those who wear this graphic fight against the illegal poaching that the Mediterranean continues to pay dearly for.
