Operation Sisois a campaign in which Sea Shepherd Italiaprotects the Mediterranean ecosystem from illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. The main target is FADs, fish aggregating devices that attract fish for subsequent capture with nets. The campaign also combats the use of "driftnets," which are banned but still illegally used today and are responsible for the deaths of sperm whales, tuna, swordfish and other marine mammals. Through direct action at sea, Sea Shepherd volunteers locate and remove illegal FADs, abandoned nets and lines, making a stretch of the Mediterranean Sea safer for marine wildlife. Those who wear this graphic fight against the illegal poaching for which the Mediterranean continues to pay a heavy price.
