Operation Anguilla is Sea Shepherd’s mission to combat the poaching of European eel elvers, a species now critically endangered. Working undercover with the Guardia di Finanza and Carabinieri Forestali, volunteers conduct investigations, documentation, and anti-poaching activities along the Italian coasts. These interventions lead to the seizure of illegal equipment, penalties for poachers, and the release of live elvers back into the sea, giving them a greater chance of survival. Wearing this means taking a stand against a silent trade that is driving a species to extinction.
